Architecture
Architecture at atelier ribo+ begins with context—understanding place, climate, culture, and the specific needs of those who will inhabit our buildings. Over 25 years, we have developed an approach that balances Swiss precision in detailing and construction with sensitivity to site and user.
What We Do
Our architecture practice encompasses new construction across building types: residential from single-family houses to multi-unit developments; commercial offices, retail, and hospitality; and public buildings including cultural and educational facilities. Each project receives individual attention—we do not apply standard solutions.
Services include:
• Feasibility studies and site analysis
• Concept design and design development
• Construction documentation
• Regulatory approvals and permitting
• Construction administration
• Interior architecture
• Furniture and fixture specification

Our Approach
Three principles guide our architectural practice:
Re.late: Every building exists in relationship—to its site, its neighbors, its climate, and its community. We invest significant effort understanding these relationships before designing.
Re.veal: Good architecture reveals qualities latent in its context—views to be framed, light to be captured, materials that belong to place. We look for what the site wants to become.
Re.shape: Architecture ultimately transforms—creating spaces and experiences that did not exist before. We embrace this transformative potential while respecting what deserves to remain unchanged.

Building Types
Residential
From single-family villas to apartment buildings, we design homes that support daily life gracefully. Attention to natural light, efficient circulation, appropriate privacy, and connection to outdoor space characterizes our residential work.
Commercial
Workplace design has evolved dramatically. We create commercial environments that attract talent, support collaboration, and project organizational values—while meeting demanding performance targets for energy and wellness.
Public and Cultural
Public buildings carry civic responsibility. We design spaces that welcome all users, function efficiently over long lifespans, and contribute positively to their urban contexts.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do you approach sustainability in new construction?
Sustainability is non-negotiable in our practice. We target high energy performance through compact forms, optimized orientation, high-performance envelopes, and efficient systems. We specify materials with low embodied carbon and design for longevity and adaptability. Many projects achieve Minergie or equivalent certifications.
Do you work with existing buildings as well as new construction?
Yes. Our Building Regeneration service addresses existing structures. In practice, many projects combine new construction with intervention in existing buildings—an integrated approach that our combined capabilities support well.
What is your typical project timeline?
Timelines depend on project scale and complexity. A single-family house typically requires 12-18 months from initial concept through construction completion. Larger projects may span 3-5 years. We establish detailed schedules during project initiation and update them throughout.
Do you provide interior design services?
We provide interior architecture as part of our standard service—spatial planning, material specification, built-in elements, and coordination with furniture selection. For clients wanting comprehensive interior design including loose furniture and decorative elements, we collaborate with specialized interior designers.
